Terms of service
The rules for using Rover, in plain English. By making an account or paying for a plan, you agree to them.
Who we are
Rover (roversites.com) is a product of Granite Built, 20 Portsmouth Ave, Suite 3, Stratham, NH 03885, USA. The seller of every Rover plan and domain is "Rover, a product of Granite Built". "We" and "us" mean Rover. "You" means the person using a Rover account.
What Rover is
Rover is software for people who build websites for local businesses. It gives you a list of businesses in your state that don't appear to have a website, builds a preview website for any of them, writes a call script and email, hosts the finished site once a business buys it, and can register a domain for that business.
Rover is a tool. We don't promise that any business will buy from you, and we don't promise any income. What you earn depends on you.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Give us accurate details, keep your password private, and don't share your account. You're responsible for everything done with it.
- One person per account.
Plans and billing
- Plans are monthly or yearly subscriptions. They renew automatically at the price shown when you signed up until you cancel.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Charges show on your statement as GRANITE BUILT ROVER (domains may show as GRANITE BUILT).
- Each plan includes a monthly number of preview sites, AI edits and leads. Unused amounts don't roll over.
- Discounts (like 50% off your first month, or a friend code for a free first month of Pro) apply to the first payment only. After that you're billed the normal price unless you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime from Billing. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are covered in the refund policy.
- If we change prices, we'll email you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before then.
Leads
Business listings come from public sources, including Foursquare Open Source Places (licensed under Apache 2.0) and Google. Listings can be out of date or wrong: a business marked "no website" might have one. Businesses handed to you are reserved for you for 30 days so other Rover users don't call them at the same time.
How you use Rover
- Be honest. Say who you are and that you build websites. Never pretend to be the business, Google, or Rover staff.
- Follow the calling, texting and email laws where you and the business are, including do-not-call rules and consent rules for texts. Don't use auto-dialers or send bulk texts or emails through anything connected to Rover.
- If a business asks you to stop contacting them, stop, and mark them "Not interested".
- Don't use Rover to spam, harass, mislead, or break the law, and don't try to copy, scrape, resell or break Rover itself.
Preview and live websites
- Preview sites are built with AI from public information about the business, with stand-in photos where needed. Before a site goes live, you're responsible for checking that everything on it is accurate and that the owner is happy with it.
- Preview links are private samples (hidden from search engines) until you put a site live.
- If a business owner asks for a preview of their business to be taken down, we'll remove it. Owners can email us directly.
- Live sites are hosted by Rover while your plan is active. If your plan ends, we keep your live sites online for at least 30 days, and you can download any site's files at any time to host elsewhere.
- You and the business own the content you add. We may show anonymized examples of site designs to promote Rover only with your permission.
Domains
- Domains bought through Rover are registered with Cloudflare Registrar in the business owner's name, so the business owns its domain. The owner's name, email, phone and business address are sent to the registrar as ICANN rules require (with privacy protection turned on where available).
- The owner must confirm their email address when the registrar asks. If nobody confirms within 15 days, the registrar may pause the domain.
- Domain fees are billed to you yearly until you stop renewing. If you stop, the domain expires at the end of the paid year.
- If an owner wants their domain moved to another company, email us. Registry rules can block moves for 60 days after registration.
Your deals with businesses
Any agreement between you and a business, including what you charge them, is between you and them. Rover isn't part of it and doesn't collect that money.
If things go wrong
- We work hard to keep Rover running, but it's provided "as is". We can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or right about every business.
- As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for lost profits or indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid Rover in the 3 months before the problem.
- We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, especially for spam, harassment or misleading business owners.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of New Hampshire, USA.
Referral program
Every Rover account gets a referral link. These terms apply when you share it.
- What you earn: 30% of each paid plan payment (Starter, Pro or Max) made by a customer you referred, after discounts and before any tax, for as long as they keep paying. Domain purchases and refunded payments don't count.
- Who counts as yours: someone who opens your link and then makes a new Rover account within 60 days on the same browser, or whose first plan purchase happens within 60 days of opening your link. The first referral link they opened gets the credit. People who already had a Rover plan don't count.
- When it's paid: each payment shows as Pending for 30 days (the refund window), then as Earned. Earned balances are paid by hand once a month, by PayPal, Venmo or another method we agree on with you. We may ask for tax information (such as a W-9) before paying, and you're responsible for any taxes on what you earn.
- Refunds and reversals: if a payment is refunded or disputed, its commission is removed. If it was already paid to you, we take it off your next payout.
- Play fair: no referring yourself or accounts you control, no spam, no fake reviews, no paid ads on the Rover name, and no promises of income or results. Rover is a tool and doesn't guarantee anyone sales; say so if you talk about money. If you post about Rover and earn from your link, say that you do.
- Changes: we can change or end the program with 30 days' notice by email. Commissions already earned before a change are still paid. We can remove anyone from the program for breaking these rules, and unpaid commissions from rule-breaking referrals are canceled.
